IPCO is world-leading supplier of premium quality steel press belts used in the production of wood-based panel products including particle board, MDF, HDF, OSB and LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber).

End applications include:

Construction

OSB, LSB, LVL, MDF and PB panel boards are produced in a continuous process using high strength steel belts engineered to product-specific tolerances to ensure the maximum possible working life. Other materials produced using IPCO steel belts on continuous double belt presses include gypsum fibreboards and insulation panels.

Kitchen and furniture

MDF and particle board is widely used in the manufacture of kitchen units and furniture. A key requirement of this type of board is a premium quality surface requiring little or no post-production sanding ahead of further treatment (laminating, coating, lacquering etc.). IPCO steel belts are precision engineered to deliver just that.

World-class manufacturing capability

We supply two main steel grades to the WBP market: IPCO 1100C, a carbon grade for single opening presses, and IPCO 1650SM, a stainless grade for double belt presses.

These materials are designed to deliver optimum press performance through a combination of tensile strength; elasticity and thermal conductivity; and resistance to corrosion and general wear and tear. We are certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001:2018. 

Continuing innovation in WBP technology

Innovation has been at the heart of our business for well over 120 years. In 1901 we produced the world’s first steel belt and have been a trusted partner to the WBP industry ever since, developing the technologies behind the production of many of today’s premium quality board materials. 

Panel boards made from sustainable materials such as rice straw, coconut husk fibres, sugar cane, hemp and other agro-waste products are already in production today and we are working hand-in-hand with industry partners to ensure that our belts remain at the heart of tomorrow’s WBP industry.
