IPCO's supercooling system uses advanced precrystallizing technology to solidify subcooling melts that would otherwise remain liquid below their melting point. By forming pastilles or flakes, these melts are efficiently solidified using a steel belt-based cooling system. Our solution ensures clean, controlled cooling for various industries.
IPCO’s supercooling system integrates a precrystallizing unit, feeding equipment and a steel belt-based cooling line to process chemicals that stay liquid even when cooled below their melting point. These “super-cooled” chemicals – or subcooling melts – lack the crystal nuclei required for natural crystallization. Our system introduces a suspension of crystal nuclei, allowing for rapid solidification on the single belt cooler.
With excellent thermal conductivity, the steel belt ensures fast cooling, reducing energy costs and minimizing vapor emissions. The system’s precise control of cooling temperature and timing guarantees a high-quality end product.

Supercooling is achieved by creating a homogeneous suspension of crystal nuclei within the melt using a scraped-surface heat exchanger, known as a precrystallizer. This features a cold cylindrical surface and a heated rotor to form a slurry (a mixture of nuclei and liquid product). The slurry then solidifies on the steel belt in a very short time.
The melt is applied to the steel belt using either a Rotoform 4G SC, for premium quality pastilles of various sizes, or a casting box or weir/double roller feeder for producing flakes. As the steel belt moves, heat transfers from the product to the cooling water sprayed underneath the belt, solidifying the material in a controlled process.
Our industrial closed-loop water cooling systems ensure complete separation between the cooling water and the product, eliminating the risk of contamination. The cooling water is collected, re-cooled and reused, minimizing waste. Additional top-side cooling with conditioned air can be applied when needed.
