Piston depositor module (PDM)
The IPCO piston depositor module (PDM) system is a 1500 mm wide depositor that uses a D-motion to deliver chocolate or compound directly onto a moving belt. The speed and height of the depositor is software-controlled, ensuring that depositing is synchronized with the speed of the belt. This precision control, combined with the D-motion, means a variable deposit can be applied with no distortion, resulting in perfectly circular large products.
The PDM can be installed alongside existing equipment on IPCO CCM triple pass steel belt cooler lines. This enables three depositing systems – PDM, rotary depositor module (RDM) and chunk extruder – to be integrated on a single line for maximum production flexibility. It can also be installed as an upgrade to older CCM lines, or as a standalone system on new lines.
The unit offers a high degree of production flexibility as all key parts – piston blocks, pistons and valves – can be swapped when a mould pitch is changed. Similarly, all parts that come into contact with the product are easily dismantled for servicing. The depositor can be automatically removed from the production line onto a wheeled trolley unit for inspection, cleaning, servicing, and replacement/exchange of components.
How it works
The depositor travels longitudinally along the belt then completes the D-shape by returning to its starting position, using only rotational movements. This means there are no linear bearings to wear out, resulting in low maintenance requirements.
