The Rotoform 4G HT builds on our market-leading Rotoform technology to make possible the efficient granulation of products that require a high feed temperature. This includes bitumen processing and tar pitch processing, as well as resin processing. If you need to convert molten refinery residues into a solid form suitable for transportation, storage, dosing, and reprocessing, the Rotoform 4G HT can help.
Our patented Rotoform pastillation process produces consistently sized pastilles directly from the melt to help you maximize competitiveness through improved quality and productivity.
Pastillation at the high temperatures used to be economically unviable for refinery residuals and certain resins. Now, thanks to IPCO’s Rotoform 4G HT, it is possible to solidify these materials in an efficient and cost-effective way, with maximum uptime and low environmental impact.
Materials suitable for this chemical processing solution include high-temperature resins as well as asphaltenes, PET, petroleum carbon, catalyst residues, and metals in the liquid pitch stream, including:
Coal tar pitch (CTP)
Solvent de-asphalted (SDA) pitch
Polymer modified bitumen (PMB)
Oxidized bitumen/asphalt
Coal slurry
Pyrolysis residue

How it works
Like all Rotoform lines, the 4G HT combines a drop depositor with a steel belt-based cooler. Drops of molten product are deposited onto the moving belt by means of a perforated rotating shell that turns concentrically around a heated stator. The heat of the drops is transferred via the steel belt cooler to water sprayed underneath, resulting in controlled cooling. The solidified droplets are discharged from the steel belt as uniform hemispherical pastilles.
Benefits
Direct from-the-melt solidification
Consistent pastille shape and size
High bulk density for storage and packing
Free flowing for easy handling, storage and reprocessing
Environmentally friendly production – dust-free, no risk of cross contamination of cooling water
Very low vapor/ gas emissions
Benefits
The key benefit of the Rotoform 4G HT is the ability to convert chemical melts with a feed temperature as high as 300 °C into granules of a consistent shape and size.
