The Rotoform HS is specifically designed for high-capacity sulphur handling and is based on the world’s most widely used process for the production of premium-quality solid sulphur pastilles.
If you need to convert sulphur or other low-viscosity, fast-cooling chemical products into pastilles of uniform shape, stability, and quality, discover what the Rotoform HS can do for your business.
Our patented Rotoform pastillation system produces consistently sized pastilles directly from the melt to help you maximize competitiveness through improved quality and productivity.
The Rotoform HS (High Speed) model delivers breakthrough levels of productivity for low-viscosity, fast-cooling chemical products, with capacities of up to 15 tons/hour. This is due to a precisely engineered extra large-diameter rotating shell that significantly increases production capacity.
The sulphur pastillation process is environmentally friendly in that production is virtually dust free, emissions are very low due to the speed of solidification, and there is no risk of cross-contamination with the cooling water.
For lower-capacity sulphur processing, our Rotoform S8 offers a throughput of up to 5.5 tons/hour.
The Rotoform HS is suitable for use with low- and medium-viscosity, fast-cooling (<20 seconds) products:
Sulphur
Bisphenol A
Caprolactam
MA (Maleic Anhydride)
Naphthalene
Urea and other fertilizer products

How it works
Like all Rotoform lines, the HS combines a drop depositor with a steel belt-based cooler. Drops of molten product are deposited onto the moving belt by means of a perforated rotating shell that turns concentrically around a heated stator.
The heat of the drops is transferred via the steel belt cooler to water sprayed underneath, resulting in controlled cooling. The solidified droplets are discharged from the steel belt as uniform hemispherical pastilles.
Benefits
Direct from-the-melt solidification
Consistent pastille shape and size
High bulk density for storage and packing
Free flowing for easy handling, storage and reprocessing
Environmentally friendly production – dust-free, no risk of cross contamination of cooling water
Very low vapor/ gas emissions
Benefits
The Rotoform HS offers significantly greater capacity than other Rotoform models while still producing a premium-quality product with a number of environmental advantages:
Sulphur solidification to the Sulphur Development Institute of Canada (SUDIC) premium quality standard
Low friability, minimizing product degradation and dust (meaning no need for exhaust air treatment)
Very low emission values – solidification takes less than 10 seconds, so there is little time for vapor to escape
High angle of repose, good flow characteristics
High purity and consistent quality
Low moisture content (the IPCO Rotoform process does not increase the moisture content)
Unrivalled uniformity of pastilles
Flexible set-up – multiple HS lines can be run together, and individual lines can be shut down and restarted in minutes
All Rotoform models use a rotating, perforated outer shell to deposit molten product onto a steel cooling belt. The much larger diameter shell used on the Rotoform HS – precision engineered with more than 30,000 holes – reduces the influence of centrifugal force on the drop shape. This enables the system to be operated at a higher speed while still producing a premium end-product.
Rotoform HS is available in sizes to suit 1,500 mm- and 2,000 mm-wide belts. Typical capacities of the 1,500 mm unit are:
Sulphur: 11.5 tons/hour
Urea: 5.0 tons/hour
Caprolactam: 4.0 tons/hour
Product cooling times are unaffected by the process, so a system running at twice the speed will need twice the cooling belt length (up to 120 m).
